misdiagnosed

Let's see: it started in elementary school: I must be hyperactive; I can't sit still. Ok, I have mutilated genitals and you expected me to sit in wooden chairs from eight in the morning until three in the afternoon. And nobody asked about the bruises, you know. I was being beaten, every day, before and after school. Ya think that MIGHT have impacted my ability to concentrate, focus, feel secure?

Later, it was "depression:" one of those garbage pails they throw women into when they don't want to listen to the fact that just maybe we might have legitimate concerns and issues. Put her on pills so she'll shut up. It took me years to stop using drugs and alcohol and just face life as it is! THANKS!

Next, it was multiple sclerosis. Explains my vision issues, muscle weakness, numbness, small motor weakness, etc. Another garbage pail. It was the beatings, you freaks. If you'd just taken the time to run an MRI or CAT scan, you'd have found it then. There's hearing issues, too, you know. If I had multiple sclerosis, back in the '90s, when you first told me I did, wouldn't I be a quadriplegic now? More likely, wouldn't I be dead?

Fibro myalgia, lupus, chronic fatigue . . . one bullshit, concocted garbage pail after the other, always with a bottle of pills I can't afford and NO physical therapy, opthamologist, hearing examination, neurological tests. Just a bottle of pills I couldn't take because they just made things worse. So, I limped along, from one crack-pot diagnosis to the next until, guess what? I won't go back to a doctor, a clinic as long as I live as long as it's in my power. You're quacks and the pharmaceutical companies own your souls.

But they're not going to own mine.

#security /******************************************************************************* *** MILITARY MELTDOWN MONDAY: MANGLING BOOZ ALLEN HAMILTON *** *******************************************************************************/ Hello Thar! Today we want to turn our attention to Booz Allen Hamilton, whose core business is contractual work completed on behalf of the US federal government, foremost on defense and homeland security matters, and limited engagements of foreign governments specific to U.S. military assistance programs. So in this line of work you'd expect them to sail the seven proxseas with a state- of-the-art battleship, right? Well you may be as surprised as we were when we found their vessel being a puny wooden barge. We infiltrated a server on their network that basically had no security measures in place. We were able to run our own application, which turned out to be a shell and began plundering some booty. Most shiny is probably a list of roughly 90,000 military emails and password hashes (md5, non-salted of course!). We also added the complete sqldump, compressed ~50mb, for a good measure. We also were able to access their svn, grabbing 4gb of source code. But this was deemed insignificant and a waste of valuable space, so we merely grabbed it, and wiped it from their system. Additionally we found some related datas on different servers we got access to after finding credentials in the Booz Allen System. We added anything which could be interesting. And last but not least we found maps and keys for various other treasure chests buried on the islands of government agencies, federal contractors and shady whitehat companies. This material surely will keep our blackhat friends busy for a while. A shoutout to all friendly vessels: Always remember, let it flow! #AntiSec

The ad’s full text:
What will it be Mr. President?
Change or more of the Same?
Candidate Barack Obama vowed to change the Bush-Cheney policies and restore America’s values of justice and due process. Many of us are shocked and concerned that right now, President Obama is considering reversing his attorney general’s decision to try the 9/11 defendants in criminal court. Our criminal justice system has successfully handled over 300 terrorism cases compared to only 3 in the military commissions. Our criminal justice system will resolve these cases more quickly and more credibly than the military commissions.
President Obama can vigorously prosecute terrorists and keep us safe without violating our Constitution.
As president, Barack Obama must decide whether he will keep his solemn promise to restore our Constitution and due process, or ignore his vow and continue the Bush-Cheney policies.
Tell President Obama not to back down on his commitment to our justice system, and to try the 9/11 defendants in criminal court.
Remind the world that America stands for due process, justice, and the rule of law.

I cried when they shot Medgar Evers
Tears ran down my spine
I cried when they shot Mr. Kennedy
As though I'd lost a father of mine
But Malcolm X got what was coming
He got what he asked for this time
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

I go to civil rights rallies
And I put down the old D.A.R.
I love Harry and Sidney and Sammy
I hope every colored boy becomes a star
But don't talk about revolution
That's going a little bit too far
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

I cheered when Humphrey was chosen
My faith in the system restored
I'm glad the commies were thrown out
of the A.F.L. C.I.O. board
I love Puerto Ricans and Negros
as long as they don't move next door
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

The people of old Mississippi
Should all hang their heads in shame
I can't understand how their minds work
What's the matter don't they watch Les Crain?
But if you ask me to bus my children
I hope the cops take down your name
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

I read New republic and Nation
I've learned to take every view
You know, I've memorized Lerner and Golden
I feel like I'm almost a Jew
But when it comes to times like Korea
There's no one more red, white and blue
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

I vote for the democratic party
They want the U.N. to be strong
I go to all the Pete Seeger concerts
He sure gets me singing those songs
I'll send all the money you ask for
But don't ask me to come on along
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

Once I was young and impulsive
I wore every conceivable pin
Even went to the socialist meetings
Learned all the old union hymns
But I've grown older and wiser
And that's why I'm turning you in
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

Two large Slurpees.
A Slurpee is a flavored frozen drink sold by 7-Eleven. In 1967,[1] 7-Eleven licensed the product from the ICEE Company, and began selling it as the Slurpee.

[edit] Slurpee history

Machines to make frozen beverages were invented by Omar Knedlik in the late 1950s. The idea for a slushed ice drink came when Knedlik's soda fountain broke down, forcing him to put his sodas in a freezer to stay cool, which caused them to become slushy. Many people loved them, which gave him the idea to make a machine to help make a "slushy". When it became incredibly popular, Knedlik hired artist Ruth E. Taylor, to create a marketing name and logo for his invention. She came up with ICEE and designed the original logo, which is still used today. Early prototypes for the machine made use of an automobile air conditioning unit.[2] In 1965, 7-Eleven began a licensing deal with The ICEE Company to sell the product under certain conditions. Two notable conditions being, first, they had to come up with a different name for the product, and second, were only allowed to sell the product in 7-Eleven locations in the U.S. The latter being a non-compete clause ensuring the two drinks never went head to head for distribution rights. 7-Eleven then sold the product that in 1967 became known as the "Slurpee" (for the sound made when drinking them). The term was coined by Bob Stanford, a 7-Eleven agency director.
The Slurpee machine has a separate spout for each flavor at the front of a tumbler or freezer, where patrons pour their own Slurpees, whatever the flavor. When Slurpees were first introduced, the dispensing machine was located behind the counter, and the clerk on duty would be tasked with dispensing the product. Common flavors are frozen Coke, Mountain Dew, and cherry, but new flavors are introduced regularly. In the Slurpee's early history, flavors rotated much more frequently than they do currently.
A dual-chambered Slurpee cup was announced for June 2011 release which uses a double straw and switchable valve to allow consumers to drink either of the flavors alone or both flavors simultaneously. [3]

Instant Karma

I'd like to dedicate this to Cindi, Deshay, Samantha, Michael and Susan.

Instant Karma lyrics

Artist: John Lennon

With the Plastic Ono Elephants Memory Band

Instant Karma's gonna get you,
Gonna knock you right on the head,
You better get yourself together,
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead,
What in the world you thinking of,
Laughing in the face of love,
What on earth you tryin' to do,
It's up to you, yeah you.

Instant Karma's gonna get you,
Gonna look you right in the face,
Better get yourself together darlin',
Join the human race,
How in the world you gonna see,
Laughin' at fools like me,
Who on earth d'you think you are,
A super star,
Well, right you are.

Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun,
Well we all shine on,
Ev'ryone come on.

Instant Karma's gonna get you,
Gonna knock you off your feet,
Better recognize your brothers,
Ev'ryone you meet,
Why in the world are we here,
Surely not to live in pain and fear,
Why on earth are you there,
When you're ev'rywhere,
Come and get your share.

Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun,
Yeah we all shine on,
Come on and on and on on on,
Yeah yeah, alright, uh huh, ah-.

Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun,
Yeah we all shine on,
On and on and on on and on.

Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.
Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.
Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.
Yeah we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.

Man gets 18 years in child abuse case

The then 3-month-old girl was found to have bleeding, a skull fracture and hemorrhaging in the retinas, leaving her permanently blind.

I don't think the taxpayers should be punished for this. I think this jerk should be chemically castrated, so he can't breed again, and sentenced to fifty years' community service at shelters for neglected, abused and orphaned children -- as a janitor, with no contact with children allowed. In memorial to his daughter, we all deserve this.

the mayor squirms about insurance liability while the largest fire in New Mexico history threatens to take out his village: priceless.

Volunteer fire dept. closure disputed

The decision left Jemez Springs without a fire department for two-and-a-half days with the massive Las Conchas fire burning nearby and the nearest fire departments more than 20 minutes away.
“We feel we have been slighted by the mayor I feel firmly that it is his job and the council's job to keep us in business instead of shut us down,” the fire chief said.
The mayor is sticking to his decision.

“It's to protect the village it's the liability issue on several different counts you can't have a unlicensed person driving and heaven forbid that they're actually be an accident,” mayor Temple said.
The situation did not change until Saturday afternoon when the fire chief presented Mayor Temple with copies of the firefighters' licenses.

However the battle is not over, there is still other paperwork that needs to be filed.

“You can see when people are really stressed for time they want to fight the fire, clean their fire engines and work on their engines who wants to do the paper work but unfortunately we live in a bureaucratic society,” mayor Temple said.

The chief says his department will do whatever it takes to stay open.
“We live here we love this area and this is where our roots are and we don't want to see it burn. This is why we do what we do,” the fire chief said.

Norma, the languages of this continent are very, very many and have been for hundreds of thousands of years, LONG before the 1700s. In fact, I hope for spelling bees in all indigenous languages of this continent. And your screaming, nasty post, my dear, is the only trash I see in the immediate vicinity. PS: Many, MANY more countries besides Mexico speak Spanish. So, you're not only prejudiced, un-American, un-Christian and filled with fear, you are ignorant, in the bargain. Dirty F@#*ing Hippies Were Right!

The Dirty F@#*ing Hippies Were Right!

ShareNew  0
Note: I dedicate this diary to our friend Patric Juillet who requested it.
P.S. I use the word hippie merely as a term of convenience. Most of us eschewed it back in the day and either called ourselves freaks or rejected labels altogether - but the phenomenon that we were was undeniable.
Some-Famous-Hippies-UPDATED
It's hard to believe but there is still a lot of hippie hating going on. It can even be found here at daily kos from time to time. How ignorant or brainwashed does one have to be to rail against those who tried to save us from the fate that bedevils us now? If we'd heeded their cries for sanity and change we wouldn't be in the mess we're in. Not saying it would be utopia but it wouldn't be the hell on earth the establishment conservatives have created for us.
Imagine no possesions, I wonder if you can, No need for greed or hunger, A brotherhood of man. Imagine all the people Sharing all the world.
John Lennon - Imagine
The hippies were powerful proponents of universal brotherhood, peace, love, tolerance, understanding and ecological stewardship. They tried to change our culture and point out that it was superficial, mean, hateful, wasteful, rapacious, violent, greedy, selfish and unsustainable.
And that, I think, was the handle - that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of old and evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look west, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark - that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.
Hunter S. Thompson
If the hippies and their message had prevailed we wouldn't be pouring trillions of dollars into stupid and immoral wars of choice. We'd have (arguably) switched to alternative forms of energy, adjusted our lifestyles, reined in the greedheads, and made life bearable and reasonable for the vast majority of people. We'd have true universal healthcare. We'd live simpler, cleaner and healthier lives. Americans would not be consuming 25% of the world's resources. Our food would not be poisoned, the oceans would be thriving and the air would be clean and unburdened by excessive co2 and other greenhouse gasses. Global warming, ocean acidification and oil well pollution would be nonexistent or at least much lesser concerns.
Gulf Awash in 27,000 Abandoned Wells
More than 27,000 abandoned oil and gas wells lurk in the hard rock beneath the Gulf of Mexico, an environmental minefield that has been ignored for decades. No one — not industry, not government — is checking to see if they are leaking, an Associated Press investigation shows.
The oldest of these wells were abandoned in the late 1940s, raising the prospect that many deteriorating sealing jobs are already failing.
ABC News
Hippie-Collage-Updated
If we'd listened to the hippies and their allies, the Gulf of Mexico would not be facing utter ruination, we would not have been attacked on 9/11, George Bush would never have been president and Iraq and Afghanistan would be conducting their own affairs as they see fit. Millions of lives would not have been sacrificed at the alter of war for corporate profits, our government would not be spying on us and plastic, superficial and misleading infotainment and disinformation would not be clogging our air waves and polluting our brains. Corporations would be small and manageable and would not be allowed to defile and befoul our environment, drive US policy or own our government. Corrupt politicians would be properly sanctioned and excluded from public service and corporate lobbyists would not exist. We'd have a safety net providing real security for all, the Military Industrial Complex would have been dismantled, journalism would be alive and WalMart would be a small store in Arkansas. Gays would be not only accepted but loved, racial harmony would prevail, equality would reign, pot would be legal, no one would have been tortured and we wouldn't be getting raped by the robber barons at the top.
This brilliant video by our fellow kossack and my esteemed friend joeyess says it all.

Here's Joeyess' profile on Daily Kos

Uploaded by joeyess on Mar 17, 2009

We're all in this together, folks.

This is a rant about the greed that permeates the American political landscape. In fact the very core of who we are as a nation and a people.

Until we re-regulate our glorious corporate overlords, our condition -the Human Condition- in this country and on this planet remains in the hands of a select group of sociopathic plutocrats that care nothing of their nation and only about their personal fortunes.

Self appointed Masters of the Universe who don't seem to realize that their gene pool has been diminished and dulled by decades of greed, avarice and a sense of entitlement.

For the most part, students are paying more money for less service. In Riverside, the libraries close earlier, there are fewer teaching assistants and academic tutors, and it is often impossible to secure a spot in a class needed to graduate.

California Cuts Weigh Heavily on Its Colleges

‎...but there's always money for war. Listen, we're not going to HAVE a middle class in this country much longer; it isn't necessary. We can sell crap to the new middle class of China and India. In THIS country, there will be the elite, who have the ivy league and wouldn't be caught dead in a state system, and we'll have the servant class. Those poorer than that can be leeched by private prisons, government defense contractors and Big PhRMA happy pills. We don't WANT an educated populace. That's why a candidate for President can actually say, without being laughed out of the room, that Black kids were better off under slavery, "because, at least, they had 2 parents" and nobody is vociferously challenging this Jesus rode a dinosaur bullshit. It's the new dark ages, people, If you're not going to fight against it, stop whining and suck it up.

n this episode of Behind the Seams we head to the dusty city of Matehuala, Mexico in search of the pointiest long-toed cowboy boots ever made. Over the past year, the botas vaqueras exóticas phenomenon has overrun the rodeo dance floors and clubs of this area and even spreading North into Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and any place where big groups of immigrant Mexicans have taken root. We made our way to Desierto Light, one of the clubs in this area where party promoters host dance-offs to music known as Tribal Guarachero. For the finals competition, the 17-year-old prodigy DJ Erick Rincón of the 3ballMTY crew performed for a crowd of adoring pointy-boot wearing raver cowboys.

A Solution to Mobile Homelessness

Mark Horvath

Mobile homelessness may be the fastest growing poverty demographic in America today. People lose their job, then their apartment, and do everything they can to keep their vehicle. In most communities it's actually illegal to sleep in a car or RV, making the life of a mobile homeless person even harder.
I have been in meetings in Los Angeles where all the stakeholders were concerned, yet no one would step up to allow mobile homeless to park on their property.

Michelle and her kids live in this RV
As many of you know I have been around the country a few times. The "Overnight Parking Program" run by St. Vincent de Paul in Lane County is the only mobile homeless services program I have seen or even heard of to date. I am sure there are others, so if you know of one please comment below.
This interview is with Keith who runs the singles side of the program and their day center. What I didn't know until this interview is they partner businesses who have land or parking space with responsible homeless people for security. That is AWESOME! Business get free security and our homeless friends get a place to park where they won't be bothered.

Randy parks his RV at the Overnight Parking Program. I really love this interview, as it tells the life of mobile homeless.

Texas Landlord & Judge Kick Mother & 4 Kids Out on Street in Seemingly Illegal Retaliation

A Lumberton, TX Landlord and Justice of the Peace, Butch Cummings, have given a woman and 4 small children 5 days before they are kicked out on the street in an apparently illegal and pre-meditated act of retaliation. The mother is not past due on her rent and is only getting evicted because this concerned mother legally complained about health conditions of their trailer such as deadly mold and open electrical boxes with water flowing through them when it rains. This Video is of me talking with the Mom and 4 kids and also video of the horrible trailer park and life threatening safety issues.

Part 1:

Part 2:

update:
I have had people ask me why would this mother live there in the first place and also why doesn't she just move to a new place tomorrow. She got trapped into the old switch and bait... she was shown a good trailer when they were moving in but then were put into this "temporary" trailer. They did not know of all the problems at first and they did not expect to be there for long and they could not afford to lose the money they paid the landlord. Once these health problems became aware they started complaining and asked to have the problems fixed or for them to be moved in a trailer without life threatening safety issues. They were denied help and then got an eviction for complaining. They are low income and cannot just get up and move and they fully expected that the landlord would fix the problems. the landlord and the judge are the bad guys. This family just does not have the money to get themselves out of the situation but they are doing their best to cover the problem areas to protect the kids and to file a complaint to have the landlord fix it. It is the landlords responsibility to fix the trailer and it is illegal to evict someone after a health hazard complaint. If this family knew at the beginning that there were so many health problems or that the problems would never be fixed then they would have found somewhere else to live to begin with. It is just another example of low income individuals getting trapped in a situation that they do not have the money to get out of it. To top it off this jusge did not even accept any evidence from this family and told her she had 5 days to leave. She asked for 30 days to the finances together to find another place but she was told to just leave... all because she complained about life threatening conditions. This landlord and judge should be ashamed

Shortage of Affordable Rental Housing Stock

Despite the demand for rental properties, only 124,000 new multifamily rental units were completed in 2010, the smallest increase in 17 years. In addition, many lowest-cost rentals are being permanently lost from the stock due to upward filtering to higher rent ranges, conversions to seasonal or nonresidential use, temporary or permanent removals because of abandonment and an aging rental housing stock. This makes it especially difficult for low-income families to find affordable rental housing. The number of poor renters needing affordable options increased from 16.3 million to 18.0 million between 2003 and 2009. Also during this period, the number of housing units that met conditions of being available to households that make less than 50 percent of area median income (AMI), in adequate condition and not already occupied by higher-income renters fell by 400,000 units.

The gap between the number of extremely low-income renters (earning less than 30 percent of AMI) and the number of affordable rental units available increased from 2 million people in 2003 to 4 million in 2009. As the rental market continues to tighten and the competition for low-cost housing intensifies, the gap between the demand for and supply of affordable rentals will only increase.

Defining “Affordable” Housing

Due to this high demand and low supply, rental housing is not affordable for many people. For housing to be considered affordable, rent and utility costs together should be less than 30 percent of household income. However, in 2009, 10.1 million renters, roughly one quarter of the renter population, spent more than 50 percent of their household income on housing. This is an especially hard hit for families with children, who after spending half of their income on housing each month, on average had only $593 left to cover all other expenses.

Many of the low-cost rental units that remain available are in older, more at-risk buildings, jeopardizing the health and safety of the residents.

However, more recently, foreclosed single-family homes in the suburbs are opening their doors for rental to those with Section 8 housing vouchers. Instead of the homes sitting empty, property owners receive guaranteed money from a federal government-backed check, and renters have an opportunity to move out of the dangerous and poverty-stricken apartment complexes that are so often the only subsidized housing options, and into a neighborhood that may offer better schools, more jobs and lower crime rates.

Still, even if renters reside in suburbs farther from the city, where housing costs are lower per square foot, transportation costs must be taken into account when considering affordability for the renter.

BIG PhRMA finds a NEW way to exploit the poor & taxpayers!

Florida's debated welfare drug-screen measure kicks in

Under the law, which went into effect on Friday, the Florida Department of Children and Family Services will be required to conduct the drug tests on adults applying to the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program.
The aid recipients would be responsible for the cost of the screening, which they would recoup in their assistance if they qualify.

You middle class people just don't get it, do you? It's a way to further stigmatize those of us who've been economically exploited into poverty. It must be OUR fault we're destitute; we brought it on ourselves. You actually believe the propaganda about an american dream, that keeps you good, compliant consumers. Those of us who know it's all a lie, those of us who fell through the huge holes in the net, must be silenced, lest you wake from your Matrix dream and realize you've been had, that your kids, spouses, car payments and houses are all hostages to keep you obedient, and that you should be tearing down the very institutions that caused this in the first place. Blame the victims; that keeps the status quo in power. happy "independence" day.

How TV Ruined Aspiration

Email to my friends, Kate and Rachel:

the following story may be apocryphal, but I could swear Kate told me she stopped watching tv after throwing a go-go boot at it when Angela Davis was arrested. If it's NOT a true story, it should be.

Rachel enjoys films, but I've seen no enthusiasm from her for this glut of "reality" cough programming. She seems to prefer actual writing, acting, plot, imagination, etc.

I turned on a tv once, a couple of years ago, and was absolutely HORRIFIED by what I saw on every channel. During my recent stays at the Pondarosa hotel in Moriarty, I have to say that horror was confirmed. I have no reason to watch tv, except public broadcasting and Ugly Betty.

So, when I saw this tonight, I literally nearly peed myself. He says, out loud, what I've been thinking for a long time now. It's really funny, frightening and validating.
