When Haitians look at their island, they see what the earthquake took from them, but they also see a space to re-create; a country with better housing, more jobs. This is on the mind of Jemps Civil, a young entrepreneur. Every day as he waits for his bus, he stands next to an empty lot where his media business used to be. Computers, microphones were all crushed in the collapsing building and two years later, he has been saving money to buy the equipment again. “Life is risk, “he says, “and taking those risks brings grace.”
Dick Gordon the host of The Story spent a week in Haiti and takes listeners into cafes, courtyards and homes to hear the stories of Haitians as they re-invent their country.
