Firebagger???

You are reading http://livinginthehood.blogspot.com

The Dems have a new way of dismissing any criticism of the Obama admin.

Firebagger
A person nominally of the political left viewed as excessively critical of President Barack Obama, especially if the tendency is to reflexively or obsessively criticize him and seemingly not other political figures. Etymology: Jane Hamsher's popular, left-leaning FireDogLake blog was regarded by Democratic moderates as having gone around the bend in being hypercritical, such as when Hamsher appeared on Fox News to denounce Obama's Health Care Bill, got involved with Neocon zealot Grover Norquist and even reportedly Tea Party activists. Thus, FireDogLake + Teabagger.
"Firebaggers are just pissed because Obama hasn’t invited them into the Whitehouse and/or isn’t the Great Liberal Savior they thought he was going to be (depending on the firebagger doing the bitching)."

Tthe man had a queer basher pray at his inauguration. that queer basher is directly responsible for the queer homicides in Uganda.

I'm not from the "nominal left;" I'm from the PROGRESSIVE left, whom this admin. HATES!

He betrayed me as a queer, as a woman, as an economically exploited person, as a person with disabilities, as a rural person and EVEN as a person of MIXED RACE!

His entire campaign was branding, not substance and was a lie. His campaign platform lies, gathering dust as he bends over and spreads 'em for every corporate, wall st., military industrial complex and banking interest on this planet. He is a fraud.

As to the freaking, impotent, greasy "Democratic" [sic] party, their REQUIREMENT that I walk lock step, never think for myself, always sublimate my urgent, life-threatening and desperate needs to the Party Line, well, THAT my dears, is why so MANY low-income "trailer trash" types such as myself get seduced by the KKKarl Rove whisper campaigns and Tea Parody slogans. When they call Obama fascist, that is what they're referencing. When they call him socialist, what they don't really know is it's CORPORATE socialism, on the backs of people like me.

A pox on both their houses!

film: "St. Louis Blues"

ALL major roles given to a Black cast. In 1958, just before Bull breaks out the fire hoses and dogs. Think about that for a minute. Eartha Kitt: multi-racial, passed from one family member to the next, daughter of rape. Juano Hernandez: Brazilian street urchin, singing for food money. Nat Cole, son of a preacher, who learned to play organ from his momma and snuck out with his friends to night clubs to listen to music (sound familiar?) Ella Fitzgerald, raised by a single mom who remarried, but soon died, leaving Ella with an abusive stepfather, causing her to drop out of school, run away; one of her jobs was look out at a bordello; another was numbers runner. Mahalia Jackson: grew up in a 3 room apartment with 13 people and a dog, had physical disabilities and was frequently beaten. See, these are survivors. Each member of the cast deserves his/her own film. The story of the making of the film interests me more than the piece, itself: How did it get made? Who financed the project, the actors, themselves? Diid it have any commercial success? How did they get away with criticizing the church? Please notice: NOBODY in this film is forced to act a stereotypical role of shucking, jiving and eye-rolling; EVERYBODY, even the unsympathetic characters, has dignity and worth. Was this an historically-accurate biography of Handy? Of cours ee not. Is it a loving, deep memorial? Yes. Subjects not covered by any other medium are addressed here: the oppressive superstitiousness of the "masters'" church, the exploitation of Black song writers, the rise from slavery to middle class in only 2 or 3 generations. And Ms. Kitt's role: so dignified, so business like. She made me want to do anything possible, just to earn a smile from her! WHAT a PERFORMANCE! Show this to your kids. Do internet searches of the subjects discussed in this historic film. We have lost so much dignity and grace in the past 60 years; it's time to get back to basics.

iced tea recipe

One tea ball loose Earl Grey (preferably with orange peel or burgamont)
6 bags green tea
4  bags generic tea
1 tea ball stevia herb (naturally sweet)
2 tbsps. sugar (rounds out sweetness)
Mix all teas & stevia in gallon jar; steep in sun
before refrigerating, add sugar (cooties you don't want in your tea feed on sugar in warmth; don't add until refrigerating)

Some additions to the tea, for variety, include: orange peel, cinnamon, allspice, cardemom, corriander, clove, lemon peel. Once can always substitute 2 bags "Constant Comment" type teas for a couple of bags of one of the others.

Good caffeine content, rich flavor, very refreshing, minimal sugar calories, anti-oxidants, etc. VERY inexpensive, even when using good grades of Earl Grey.

. . . after all the hell they put me through, they keep coming back here, to my blog, snooping. Don't they have lives? Or is it that they're hoping to see me suffer, and feel cheated because I won't? If they hold me in SUCH low contempt, feel themselves SO superior to me, why in the WORLD would they waste one second of their lofty time, reading the humble scratchings of a person they consider subhuman? I have better things to do than snoop around them; they don't interest me in the least!  I never did consort with  bullies, drunks, drug users or criminals; I certainly don't have time to waste on them now!

"Gone with the WInd" through Butterfly McQueen's eyes

You are reading http://livinginthehood.blogspot.com

ATTENTION, AFRICAN AMERICANS: begin watching this at 1:11:30. The Yankees are coming, Scarlett wants to evacuate, but Melanie is in labor. 1:12:56 Scarlett orders Prissy (Thelma "Butterfly" McQueen) to get the doctor. Prissy doesn't want to go, because it is a place of death, and her cultural traditions have strong taboos about this (it is written as though Prissy is being lazy and superstitious, but hang on). 1:13:06 Scarlett orders Prissy to hurry or, "I'll sell you south, I will." That's a real threat; conditions farther south were far worse for people in slavery. 1:14:00 Prissy dawdles back in, singing to herself, soothing her fear. HERE IT IS: don't know how it passed the censors. Scarlett orders Prissy to sit with Miss Melony, "or I'll whip the hide offa you." Close up of Prissy. Look closely at her mouth. What is she mouthing? 1:14:47, Ms. Thelma McQueen appears to mouth the words, "F@ck you." Now, Hattie McDaniel won the 1st Oscar ever awarded an African American woman, but Ms. Thelma McQueen's un-censored, un-edited ad lib (I can't believe that was scripted) is a monumental achievement for African American women in film: an honest, albeit brief, portrayal of the actual contempt they felt for white enslavers. And NONE of the white editors, directors or crew even noticed! And THAT, my dears, is why GWTW is an important film to African Americans!

Quotes

  • "As my ancestors are free from slavery, I am free from the slavery of religion."[7] This quote was used by the Freedom From Religion Foundation in advertisements inside Madison, Wisconsin buses in 2009,[8] and in the Atlanta market in 2010.[9] It is also featured on bookmarks in the FFRF shop.

Film: Down in the Delta

Four stars for cast and production team. Please notice, in the closing credits, that several of the actors in this piece also produced it. That means they believed in the project enough to raise funds for it. This is a labor of love. Now, I happen to live in a rural community, and I've lived in the inner city (including South Central Los Angeles.) It is easier to buy crack, meth and heroin in a small, rural town; you're less likely to get shot. I'm reminding myself this was filmed during the times of Starter jackets, Walkmans and WebTV. The gang banging of the day seems so naive, compared to now, when it has invaded sleepy hamlets, cowboy ranges and Indian reservations across the continent. But the message is not out dated: Remember what people did, how they struggled and what they gave up, so you could live and pass on your heritage. Be in awe, and humbled, by that. Show this film to your kids. Rogi Riverstone

1996 R 99 minutes

Is this brilliantly written, acted photographed or scored? Probably not. I mean, by "industry" standards this is a meh movie, I suppose. But the "industry" is so stilted, so formulaic, so timid, I don't watch much it produces, anyway. The true genius of this film is love. Stereotypes of people with behavioral health challenges corrupt both horror and comedy films, so much so, I don't watch many from the USA. But this is not exploitation. Borrowing on the apocryphal plays written, directed and produced in the "mad" house in which the Marquis de Sade was incarcerated, this film perceives the incarcerated as merely ordinary people who, but for the misfortune of having been caught at it, would be walking past us on the sidewalk any given day of the week. The profundity of a mental "health" system, charged with their care, having lowered expectations of them so shabbily they're not expected to function is real and heart breaking. And these brave souls secretly mount a production that sets occupational "therapy" to shame. The costumes, props and set designs are full of humor, innovative, artful and witty. I am leaving now to post this in my blog and on FaceBook, as I highly recommend this and WILL watch it again! Rogi Riverstone

I'm sick about the goats.

You are reading http://livinginthehood.blogspot.com

they've not been seen in over a week. there's alfalfa fields out there, but no water. there are also feral dogs, coyotes and many people who eat goats. read this: http://livinginthehood.blogspot.com/2011/07/i-killed-my-goats.html

I killed my goats.

i'm too sick to write it again. It's my fault; I trusted people here. big mistake

no, if they were seen by a decent person, that person would have called animal control. either feral dogs or coyotes got them or they've been stolen and probably eaten. Or that nasty landlord killed them.

you know what I sacrificed out there in Belen to keep my animals safe: no sewage, running water, heat, no car and so far from groceries, the mean neighbors, the filth. Well, I lived like that in Fort Sumner for nearly 2 years, before that. And I was TORTURED out here, by TWO landlords in TWO MONTHS, trying to find secure housing for my animals. I love those goats like best friends, like family. They trusted me and I let them down. I can't forgive myself.

I can't even TALK to anybody out here about how I feel. They'll just use it against me, call me crazy or satanic or something else stupid. I've never been so lonely in my whole life. This place is evil. And I don't USE that word! I'm a atheist, so I don't get next to that demonic crap. This is HUMAN evil. They're very warped, cruel and cold.

my head knows how much I've done. My heart sees those trusting, funny, loving, SMART, silly, tender eyes of theirs and just TEARS inside my chest

I mean, it's visceral, this pain. I can't even go up and LOOK for them. It's five miles. It's too hot for me by nine in the morning. I can't walk or see well. The roads are gravel washboard and go for MILES up in that settlement. I can't carry water; it's too heavy. And NOBODY will take me up to even LOOK for them!

and the guy who took me up there so i could get them picked a fight with me and got REALLY abusive, simply because i said, "Please, Ray, don't argue with me all the time" He contradicts the simplest comments; I'm afraid to speak around him. He threatened to beat me, right in front of the feed store owner and a neighbor who ran over to see why he was screaming. He stranded me there, seven miles from my house, two miles from the goats. I hitch hiked to the goats place. The couple had even volunteered to bring my goats down here to their new home, very close to where I'm living. But they were gone. So the couple brought me back here. I've asked SIX neighbors, practically the only people I know in town, to take me up to look for them. They're ALL afraid to get involved! Either that, or they won't do it unless i pay them. I have no money left for the rest of the month.

I got the goats, by the way, for milk. I got the chickens for eggs. Out of 25 chickens, only 7 survive. I can't keep them here and that man wants them off his place.
I'm having nightmares when I doze off: they're hanging by their back legs, kicking and struggling, as their throats are slit.

CCHR: Psychiatric Abuse of the Elderly

Psychiatry and those who follow their practices (drugs, restraints, electroshock) have no reverence or respect for the elderly, and employ dangerous drugs and 'treatments' as a method of control and keeping them quiet. They will happily supply endless prescriptions of psychoactive drugs or ECT. In just a six-month time period in 2007, Medicare received $309 million in claims for antipsychotics for elderly in nursing homes. Daniel R. Levinson, Office of Inspector General (OIG), Department of Health and Human Services, stated recently, "Despite the fact that it is potentially lethal to prescribe antipsychotics to patients with dementia, there's ample evidence that some drug companies aggressively marketed their products towards such populations, putting profits before safety.... Government, taxpayers, nursing home residents, as well as their families and caregivers should be outraged -- and seek solutions."

Bus Stop Moved To Avoid Homeless Woman's Smell

Bus Riders Say Woman Has Lived At Bus Stop Over 1 Year

The city has begun installing a new style of benches at bus stops with designs that are supposed to discourage people from sleeping on them.New green benches have three raised bars that divide them in sections, making it uncomfortable to recline on them.In 2008, the city installed concrete stools at some bus stops in another attempt to make it difficult for the homeless to set up camp. The city also put in benches along Fort Street Mall which have two raised arm rests in them, also aimed at making it nearly impossible to lie down and sleep on them.

a most untrustworthy place

It's very mercenary here. People seem to treat others, especially the economically exploited (from my personal experience, yes, but also from MANY conversations with other citizens of this place), as objects for exploitation. People get lied to and cheated a lot here, and I mean A LOT. So, folks are suspicious and afraid of others. And I mean REALLY afraid! I asked a neighbor for a ride today. He apologized profusely. Out of vengeance, someone who's angry with him had him investigated by an agency. He's still not out of the woods yet. So, he's afraid to have a woman in his car, lest gossip, rumors and accusations spread! There are MANY such stories here -- TOO many, for such a sparsely populated county.

People get set up by "the authorities" here. Seems "the authorities" are a weapon in people's wars against each other. And "the authorities" take sides. Viciously. A lot of people are depressed and angry here, isolated, scared and on guard.

It happened to me again today. I called county Animal Control, trying to get help to find my goats. They've disappeared from where a nice guy was boarding them; there are issues with the fence. They were pastured with only dry buffalo grass. There are green alfalfa fields all around. The goats haven't been seen in over a week.

My landlord took me up there about a month ago to check on them. The nice man's son and a young woman told me the gates to both the pasture and the goat pen had been violently ripped off and all the goats, his and mine, were loose. They showed me where boards were pulled off. They used one of my goats' collars as a temporary tie to keep the gate shut. They told me they'd have to repair the pasture gate before they would be able to let the goats into the pasture again. My landlord heard all of it. My landlord's a retired cop.

Now, teen kids sometimes remove stock gates as a prank. But they don't spend time and energy, tearing them up.

So, my goats have been gone for a week. Animal control hasn't heard any reports. He went up to check it out today and spoke to the nice man. I told animal control I'm suspicious of the repeated "escapes" by only my goats, since Willy's too old to jump a fence, and I find it an uncomfortable coincidence that the nice man's gates were vandalized, right after my goats moved in. He's never had that happen before.

And the people who trapped and abused me pass his place every day. So, I told animal control I was SUSPICIOUS, and I asked him to check their place, to see if my goats were there.

He left a note on their door, he told me.

I rode my bike up there to look for my goats today. I stopped at the nice man's place and he was angry. He said he didn't want to get in the middle of anything; that the people of whom I'm suspicious are his friends, that the note animal control left specifically said I had accused the PATRIARCH of that other family of stealing my goats! I never said any such thing!

Now, this patriarch is EXTREMELY cold-blooded, sadistic, cruel, nasty, sneaky. I saw him watch me walk the aisles in the local grocery, as he stood near the door, for a long time one day. I know he made a fake profile on Facebook and tried to "friend" me and  a friend of mine. My friend's name was on a blog post. My friend lives in Ohio, in a city, and has no goats. The fake profile was about goats in New Mexico.

This patriarch keeps saying I burnt down his daughter's house where I stayed a month. I didn't. I know who did. I know it was an accident. But they "punished" me in very savage, ruthless, hateful and sociopathic ways. I barely made it out alive, barely saved my animals and my possessions. And that is not hyperbole; it is fact and people witnessed it.

He also keeps saying I'm going around telling people I'm afraid he'll kill me. Here's that inane, spiteful gossip again. I NEVER said that to ANYBODY in this county! I said I'm afraid of him. I said he's got guns. I said the behavior of his entire family toward me was bullying, cruel, petty and spiteful. I said I don't know what he might do. And that is all true.

I also know the adult family members are very invested in mind-altering substances: drugs and alcohol. And I know people who BRAG about getting drunk and high, who don't feel embarrassed by losing control while heavily under the influence, have lowered the bar of acceptability. And I know mind-altering chemicals alter the mind, the ability to think, rationality, impulse control, etc. while under the influence to the point of losing control, and that, with long-term use, that bar gets lowered to a very dangerous point. They are the center of the universe and everybody else had damn well better fall in line. Or else.

And this guy is big on "or else."

So, I don't know what the note animal control left said. I know the nice guy thinks I'm accusing people of stealing the goats. I'm suspicious. I said that very clearly to animal control. I also SPECIFICALLY stated that I DON'T think the patriarch did anything. If anybody in that family were to do something to my goats, I suspect his daughter. Her behavior toward me was very unethical, dishonest, abusive, disrespectful . . . she acted like a spoiled brat. I think she's a wannabe dominatrix, who doesn't get the FIRST rule of bondage, domination and sado-masochism is NOTHING happens without full consent of ALL PARTIES involved. I did not consent to her abuse, threats, tantrums. I think she's very, very unstable (apples don't fall far from trees?) and, given the specifics of the vandalism to my property, especially the slashing of every garden hose I owned, so I wouldn't be able to give my animals water, I don't think hurting my animals is beyond her.

But I never said she did anything. I said I am suspicious, that I have good reason, and I wanted THAT SPECIFIC FAMILY eliminated as possible suspects.

Somebody TOOK my goats. Oh, they might have wandered off the property -- the nice guy's goats got out both as animal control was coming AND going today. But they weren't reported to animal control. The nice guy's goats all come back home. ONLY MY THREE GOATS have not returned.

And where are their 3 leashes I hung on the nice guy's fence?

Now, the nice guy is telling me the gates weren't vandalized, when a retired cop heard his son tell me they were. And now the nice guy is claiming "illegal aliens go through here all the time" and took two of his goats and ate them. All of a sudden, I'm hearing this? He saw them steal the goats and eat them, and didn't stop them? And he's telling me he's friends with the patriarch because he thinks I caused trouble between he and that patriarch? Is that all?

See, I don't know who or what to believe. This place is a Twilight Zone of twisted realities, weird motives, exploitation, cruelty for entertainment, extortion, rumors. I've heard HORRIBLE and I mean GHASTLY rumors about one of my neighbors! HIDEOUS stuff! None of them are true!

I don't WANT to be afraid all the time! I refused to live like that when I was in that War Zone ghetto in Albuquerque, surrounded by drugs and guns and hate. I insisted on growing my garden and living in peace and letting the kids in the 'hood come to my house to play, eat, learn, study, cook, etc.

THIS place is a ghetto. The whole county. It's all a slum. The people "on top" even live in house trailers. They hoard. they have no manners. They're invasive and abusive. You know what Black folks say about white folks: what do you call the white spot on top of chicken poop? CHICKEN POOP! It's all chicken poop, but the ones "on top" think they ARE somebody! I haven't had a relaxed, intellectually stimulating conversation, full of curiosity, humor and interest, with anybody out here. It's all about mundane stuff. It's all about their particular superstitions. They live under the Milky Way, which is visible out here because of the lack of lights, but they never see it. They're in their houses, letting the blue tit television pump their heads with propaganda.

Yes, I have to assume my goats are dead. My friends, who I've struggled so hard to protect and shelter. I love them so deeply and have missed them so much.

I betrayed them. They trusted me to care for them and I didn't.

How do I live with that, and in such a heartless place, where I can't even tell anybody my grief?

My 3 goats have disappeared from a farm where they were boarded. It's on Pumpkin Patch Road, very close to 41. Here is a picture of the adult, wethered male. There are 2 half-grown kids: a nanny: black front & back with white band around belly and a wethered male: black & white polka dot with a black stripe down his back. It's been a week since anybody has seen them.
I have to assume my goats are dead. They've been missing for over a week. My bike tire and tube are ruined; I can't afford new ones and nobody will drive me up there so I can look for them. I killed my goats.

FBI probes News Corp 9/11 hacking claims

“The reported allegations against News Corporation are very serious, indicate a pattern of illegal activity, and involve thousands of potential victims,” the politicians said in a letter to Mr Holder and Ms Schapiro.
“It is important to ensure that no United States laws were broken and no United States citizens were victimised,” the senators said.
THANK YOU! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!! Go get 'em, FBI! It's about TIME you did something besides lurk at peaceful demonstrations, teach death squads to attach battery cables to genitals, secretly wear dresses and send closet cases to persecute us Queers! EARN my tax money, you parasites!

Piece of Mind: Is the Internet Replacing Our Ability to Remember? Researchers study whether the use of the Internet as a memory aid leads to a lazy mind, or whether memorization is overrated

Brain injuries, here. Struggled for decades with crates of books, notebooks and other media as an external memory, since I have trouble with my own. Internet changed all that: everything stored digitally, easy to retrieve. Frankly, internet helps memory A LOT! I've learned SO MUCH about literature, science, politics, art, animal husbandry, sustainable living and on and on. I NEVER would have learned all this with books and libraries. Give the trees a rest. If our minds are free from storing minutia, might they not create the paradigm shift that could save us and our planet from ourselves?

misdiagnosed

Let's see: it started in elementary school: I must be hyperactive; I can't sit still. Ok, I have mutilated genitals and you expected me to sit in wooden chairs from eight in the morning until three in the afternoon. And nobody asked about the bruises, you know. I was being beaten, every day, before and after school. Ya think that MIGHT have impacted my ability to concentrate, focus, feel secure?

Later, it was "depression:" one of those garbage pails they throw women into when they don't want to listen to the fact that just maybe we might have legitimate concerns and issues. Put her on pills so she'll shut up. It took me years to stop using drugs and alcohol and just face life as it is! THANKS!

Next, it was multiple sclerosis. Explains my vision issues, muscle weakness, numbness, small motor weakness, etc. Another garbage pail. It was the beatings, you freaks. If you'd just taken the time to run an MRI or CAT scan, you'd have found it then. There's hearing issues, too, you know. If I had multiple sclerosis, back in the '90s, when you first told me I did, wouldn't I be a quadriplegic now? More likely, wouldn't I be dead?

Fibro myalgia, lupus, chronic fatigue . . . one bullshit, concocted garbage pail after the other, always with a bottle of pills I can't afford and NO physical therapy, opthamologist, hearing examination, neurological tests. Just a bottle of pills I couldn't take because they just made things worse. So, I limped along, from one crack-pot diagnosis to the next until, guess what? I won't go back to a doctor, a clinic as long as I live as long as it's in my power. You're quacks and the pharmaceutical companies own your souls.

But they're not going to own mine.
