Food Not Bombs got a bumper crop this week.
I've made 10 gallons of stewed tomato sauce, with bell peppers, celery, fresh
herbs, onion and garlic. Decanted into quart yogurt tubs.
Both the carrots and beets (some golden, some red) are slightly wilted. But they
still make great juice. They're also good for pickling and cooking. I have more
than a case, and no time to process all of them!
But I'd grab them ASAP; they won't last much longer and I'll have to compost
them.
By the way, we've had an offer of a free refrigerator, and someone's arranging
to pick it up from Mary.
We still need: kitchen gadgets, small appliances, cutlery, dishes.
If anybody has old camping stoves or hot plates, we could use them, too.
And we ALWAYS need shelves! LOL
We had a GREAT week! We fed the homeless wonderful stuff, including a
strawberry/rhubarb compote, with blackberries and raspberries!
You can always find us at Civic Plaza or the 4th Street Mall on Sundays, at
Noon!
Thanks,
Rogi Riverstone
